Web Services and Information Technology will be performing a web server upgrade on the morning of Tuesday, June 26, between 6 a.m. and noon. The upgrade includes moving the university website to an HTTPS only URL. The university is making the move to ensure better privacy, consistency and security. That is, https://www.stetson.edu/, and all the pages that follow will become https://www.stetson.edu/.
This change involves updating website links that are currently HTTP, setting up redirects and running error and quality checks. While we believe this will be an error-free change, we ask our WebGarage and WordPress users to please check their sites and links later that day.
The server upgrade will not impact email, Blackboard and MyStetson.
During this time frame, there will be a web content freeze for any WebGarage-based or WordPress-based website as files are copied from one server to another. While we do not anticipate any server downtime during this process, there is always a slight chance that the web server may briefly become unavailable as systems are taken down and brought back up. We are starting the upgrade before the workday and will be available during working hours should any unforeseen problems arise.
Again, other web-based systems such as Stetson University’s email, Blackboard and MyStetson will be not be affected throughout this entire process. If you need to get in touch with any of the web staff, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org during the maintenance window.
Thank you for your patience as we improve our systems.
