Annually, the Latin American Studies Program offers an extraordinarily impactful learning opportunity known as the Mentored Field Experience to four competitively selected students. This year’s MFE will immerse participants in the millennial culture of the Maya. Those selected for the course will climb ancient pyramids, swim in pristine cenotes, study Mayan calendars and visit with community elders in places of regional spiritual significance. The course consists of a two-credit (1/2 unit) preparatory class in the fall of 2018, a 12-day field component in Mexico from Dec. 28 – Jan. 8, and a two-credit reflective component in the spring of 2019. This will not be a vacation-like experience, so please apply only if you can happily endure minor discomforts. Spanish is not required, but helpful. For further information about this course, contact Dr. Robert Sitler at email@example.com. To apply, contact WORLD on the Stetson campus.
