Computers & Food Production
The Open Agriculture Initiative (OpenAg™) at The MIT Media Lab is at the leading edge of exploring innovative and sometimes, controversial technologies for growing food. For example, The OpenAg Personal Food Computer (PFC) is a tabletop-sized, controlled environment agriculture technology platform that uses robotic systems to control and monitor climate, energy and plant growth inside of a specialized growing chamber. This presentation will provide an overview of the evolution of technology and science in food production. How did we get here? What are the challenges? And, what can we expect in the future? These are a few of the questions we will explore in a relaxed, conversation-style format.
