Take Photos, Step In, Do What You Can to Keep Campus Safe

Creating a campus where everyone feels safe, secure, and supported is always a priority. Such a big process involves lots of small steps, and Wellness and Recreation’s WELL Team is committed to helping the campus take those steps. Join The WELL Team next week, Feb. 20 – 24, for educational and engaging opportunities to help create a safer campus. Check out one or all of these great events:

Wednesday, Feb. 22, 12 – 2 p.m.: Hatter’s Turn the Red Zone Green! Join over 500 Hatters in taking the pledge to “Turn the Red Zone, Green.” This pledge encourages Hatters to step in when help is needed and be supportive of a community that get’s consent! By signing the pledge you get to take home a fun color-changing cup that turns green with cold liquid! Find The WELL Team outside of The CUB.

Wednesday, Feb. 22, 5 – 7 p.m.: Step In, Step UP! Join us for an interactive training on active bystander behavior. Learn how you can step in when someone is in need. Participants of this program will receive a free Wellness t-shirt! Join us in the Hollis Center Classroom and bring your friends!

Thursday, Feb. 23, 12 – 1 p.m.: Healthy Relationships Learn over Lunch! What does a healthy relationship actually look like? How can you be supportive of your partner’s needs and what can you do if you know someone in an unhealthy relationship? We will discuss this and more with this interactive program. A light lunch will be provided. Please arrive to the Hollis Center Classroom by 12 p.m. to get started!

Friday, Feb. 24, 1:30 p.m.: Photos Speak Louder Than Words: A Campus Photovoice Safety Walk. Are there areas on or around campus that you don’t feel safe or comfortable exploring either during the day or night? Join us starting in the Hollis Center Classroom for a quick overview on Photovoice, followed by a campus safety walk. Use your photos to capture areas on or around campus that need improvements or addressing to help create a safer campus for all. We invite faculty, staff, and students to share their photos to get a full campus perspective.

If you have any questions regarding the upcoming programs, or if you would like to submit photos but can’t join the walk, please contact Melissa Mesman, Assistant Director of Wellness and Recreation, for more information at mmesman@stetson.edu.
