Service Opportunity with the Farmworker Association of Florida
Join the Environmental Fellows on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. for a service project with the Farmworker Association of Florida.
“FWAF’s programs and activities build leadership and activist skills among low-income communities of color who are disproportionately affected by pesticide exposure/health problems, environmental contamination, racism, exploitation, and political under-representation.”
We will be helping them by mulching, weeding, and planting in the garden beds. Since the project is in Pierson, we will meet at the Center for Community Engagement at around 8:15 a.m. to fill out waivers so that we can leave ASAP. Please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, long pants and closed-toe shoes, and bring a re-usable water bottle since there is no potable water onsite. We will be back no later than 12:30 p.m.
Email Sarah Coffey at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested, and please indicate if you are able to drive. We hope to see you there!
