Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will my email address change?
A: No. There will be no changes to email addresses, either for sending or receiving
Q: What are the software requirements and do I have to learn new software?
A: For PC users, Outlook 2010 and 2013 are supported. For Mac users, Outlook 2011 and Outlook 365 are supported. If you have Yosemite, Office 2016 is the recommended version.
Q: Do I have to reconfigure my smartphone?
A: Yes, at a minimum, you will need to go into your email account settings and change the server address to m.outlook.com. Your username and password will remain the same. In some cases, we recommend that you delete your existing email account on your phone and create a new account.
Q: Do I have to reconfigure my Outlook client on my computer?
A: If you are running Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013 on a PC, you should not have to adjust your settings; it should update automatically. If you are using a Mac with Outlook 2011 or Mac Mail, you may have to change the server address.
Q: Will my local PST (archive) files be affected?
A: No, if you currently use PST files (Outlook archive files), they will continue to work as before as they are stored on your local PC and not on our servers.
Q: Will Outlook Web App (OWA) change?
A: Yes, the look of OWA will change to a new design which is simpler. The new OWA site does not have access to public folders.
Q: How will I access Outlook Web App (OWA)?
A: The URL will not change and will remain email.stetson.edu
Q: When will I know when my email and calendar account is moving?
A: We plan to move the members of a department simultaneously and will work with department heads to schedule a time that works best. An email will be sent to each mailbox with an exact date the migration will occur.
Q: Is Office 365 secure and is my email safe?
A: Office 365 is a secure service. It provides encryption at rest and in transit, robust physical security, and logical security. Click Here for more information
Q: Will I lose access to my email?
A: Yes, for a brief period, 30 minutes at most, you will lose access to email while your mailbox finishes moving the email to Office 365. During your scheduled account migration, we recommend that you visit email.stetson.edu to confirm your account has been migrated. If your account has migrated, you will see “Office 365” in the upper left corner of your page.
Q: My account has been migrated and I cannot access a calendar or folder.
A: During the migration period, you may lose access to some shared calendars or folders that have not yet been migrated. After those resources have been migrated, you should regain access.
Q: Will I still be able to access public folders?
A: Yes, after the migration you will be able to access public folders from your Outlook client (if you use Outlook 2010, 2013, or Outlook 2016). You will not be able to access public folders from Outlook Web Access in a web browser. After the migration, we will help each department move their data from public folders to shared mailboxes.
|While the office of Information Technology has gone through great lengths to make the transition to the new systems as seamless as possible, we understand that some users might not feel comfortable with making changes to their system.
