Stetson University Chi Sigma Iota presents:
The Education Gap: A Call to Action for School Counselors
Stetson University, Rinker Auditorium, LBC
Thursday, March 20, 2014 – 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Open & free to students, teachers and professionals
Although the rates of college attendance are rising overall in America, students of low income and minority status are accessing post-secondary education at slower rates than White students. The resulting “education gap” has implications for our nation’s economic stability and for the ability for all people to be full participants in our diverse society. School counselors must address this social justice issue by making college and career readiness for all students a focus of their work in schools. The lecture will be presented by Dr. Meghan Walter.
Dr. Walter is a distinguished and esteemed Stetson University Assistant Professor for the Counselor Education Graduate Program, serving as advisor to School Counseling Graduate Students.
