Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and throughout this month the department of Wellness & Recreation will have events centered on domestic violence awareness. Did you know: “3 in 10 women in the U.S. have experienced rape, physical violence or stalking by a partner and reported that violence affected them in some way” (CDC, 2012)? Recently, the department of Wellness & Recreation presented the Clothesline Project, a t-shirt display of messages to inspire someone that has been a victim of sexual assault or domestic violence. Join us on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for “True Colors: a discussion on sexual assault and domestic violence”.
