Hometown: Chicago, IL
Major: Psychology and Sociology
Why I Chose Stetson:
I came from a very overcrowded high school where class sizes were over 30 students, sometimes even 40 in a classroom. So, having a close connection with my professor was very important to me when it came to looking at schools. Stetson offered that to me. I did not feel like a number, but rather my own individual who professors will be able to remember.
Involvements on Campus:
I work for Public Safety delivering meals to students in isolation (Community Logistics Support)
What I Like to Do on Weekends:
Go to the beach, go bowling, shop in Downtown DeLand, shop at the Tanger Outlets, drive around and sightsee, watch movies and TV shows and play video games in the student lounge
My Favorite Class at Stetson:
Sociology of Law with the iconic Dr. Sven Smith. He is super funny and charismatic. I started writing down funny things he says or does because he is so iconic. But all in all, he really does care about what he is teaching us, and if a very open-minded professor willing to listen and help us all out.
Advice to Prospective Students:
Do not feel as if you have to go somewhere because that is where your family wants you to go or because all of your friends are going there. College is the time where you get to know yourself and do what you want to do with what will make you happy. Most importantly, go somewhere where you feel like you are at home. As cheesy as that sounds, being on a campus where you feel comfortable and like yourself is the best feeling in the world
Favorite Place on Campus:
The corner table outside of the CUB because that is where my friends and I hang out to eat, do homework, and just chill
