Biology, it's alive!
Biology is the study of living things, and biologists study life from the level of molecules to ecosystems. At Stetson University, we stress a hands-on approach to learning through our small-sized classes and lab sessions, all of which are taught by professors.

Our biology curriculum will prepare you to be a scientist by engaging in scientific experimentation and helping you develop expertise with the scientific and statistical tools to design and analyze their own experiments. You will work with modern research equipment in the lab, and for classes with a field component, Stetson's central location offers opportunities for study in places like Ocala National Forest, Canaveral National Seashore, Blue Spring State Park and Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge.
The most distinctive element of the Stetson biology experience is completing your capstone research project, which will help you move beyond simply learning what is already known to generating new knowledge for such a dynamic field. By graduation, not only will you have learned a great deal of scientific information, but you will also be familiar with the entire research process, from experimental design to written and oral presentation of results. You will also have developed essential lab skills and confidence to work as a peer with a scientist-mentor.

Student-Faculty Collaborative Research
The relationships forged between students and mentors during the senior research process are one of the most pinnacle aspects of the Stetson Biology program.
After completing the capstone project, you can present your research at our daylong symposium, Stetson Showcase. You may also have the opportunity to present your results at a scientific meeting or even co-author a manuscript with a faculty mentor.
