Why Stetson's Master of Educational Leadership?

Whether it's the Master's of Educational Leadership or the Modified Educational Leadership Certificate our graduates will speak to the value of the interaction with their faculty and colleagues. While the programs are intense and challenging, students will tell you how quickly their time in the program passed, and the quality and depth of the learning experience they have.

This is "Why Stetson?" (Find out what our graduates have to say about us)

Masters of Educational Leadership

Pursuing an administrative career within education has always been an option, but now is the time to make it a reality. Enhance your knowledge of leadership, curriculum development, legal and financial aspects of school management, and working effectively with linguistically, culturally and racially diverse student populations by pursuing your master's degree in educational leadership at Stetson University.

  • 180-hour educational leadership internship experience in your school
  • Action Research Project
  • Skills and knowledge necessary to pass the FELE required for certification as an administrator

Educational leaders holding a Master's Degree and Principalship Certification typically earn higher salaries than teachers with only a bachelor's degree. Graduates assume the following positions:

  • Assistant principals
  • Associate superintendents
  • Superintendents
  • Deans
  • Administrators of district-level programs
  • State and federal leadership officials
  • Academic Coaches
  • Assessment and testing coordinators

Modified Educational Leadership Certificate

Stetson University’s Modified Educational Leadership program will help you establish the qualifications needed for positions as deans, assistant principals, principals, program directors, instructional coaches and state education-level positions.

The difference between our Modified Educational Leadership program and our Master's degree in Educational Leadership is that a previous master's degree already needs to have been obtained to qualify for the Modified program. As a research and competency-based program, the Modified Educational Leadership certification's 19-credit program schedule is designed to fit the work and personal needs of an educational professional.

  • 90-hour educational leadership internship experience in your school
  • Skills and knowledge necessary to pass the FELE required for certification as an administrator

Educational Leadership Internship

As a part of Stetson University's Educational Leadership graduate program, modified students complete 90 hours of an Educational Leadership internship experience at their school site during two semesters. This experience provides students with receiving hands-on coaching from experienced school administrators and support from Stetson University faculty members.
