Program Overview

As a mathematics major in coordination with your advisors, you can construct tracks of study that will lead to a variety of careers and graduate school opportunities in pure and applied mathematics and education. Our program offers formal concentrations in actuarial and financial mathematics, mathematics applied to physics and statistics. Other interdisciplinary applications may also be pursued.

We seek to develop students’ abilities to think precisely and creatively about a variety of problems, to write and speak clearly and persuasively about these ideas and to be aware of the intellectual power and significance of mathematical thought and computing in today’s technological society.

Program Benefits

Students holding a mathematics degree from Stetson emerge as lifelong learners who are able to apply their knowledge and skills to better the world around them.

The program is small and the community is close and supportive, which paves the way for strong group collaboration. Our faculty are also readily available and eager to help and pay individual attention.

The year-long senior research project allows you to work one-on-one with a professor to accomplish significant mathematical results. These projects are impressive and certainly further a student’s candidacy for employment or graduate school.

Faculty

Our experienced and successful faculty will help guide you through the journey of our Mathematics program.
