Stetson community remembers 9/11
Just after dawn on the morning of Sept. 11, members of the Stetson University College of Law community planted 2,977 American flags on Stetson’s law campus in memory of each of the 9/11 victims.
The event was co-sponsored by the Stetson Democrats, Stetson Republicans, and Stetson Student Veterans organizations.
The director of Stetson’s Veteran’s Advocacy Clinic, Associate Professor Stacey-Rae Simcox, was part of the flag planting ceremony and said, “It is important for the Stetson community to come together to remember this day. Not only because 9/11 changed America and brought us together to help one another but also because many of our student veterans served in combat as a direct result of the events that day.”
After planting the flags, students, professors and administrators observed a moment of silence, reflecting on the events of that day 14 years ago.
