Jason Derrick, Professor of the Practice of Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law, has taught Legal Writing since 2000, and served as Acting Director of the Legal Writing program during the 2001-2002 academic year. Professor Derrick has taught writing at both the undergraduate and professional school levels. He also teaches a course in Law & Film, as well upper-level writing courses including Advanced Legal Writing. He was involved with the Mississippi Elder Law Project as co-drafter of proposed revised legislation for the Mississippi Vulnerable Adults Act and consults with courts around Mississippi about best writing practices. Professor Derrick received his B.A. from Mississippi College and his J.D. from The University of Mississippi. The Law School Student Body selected him as Outstanding Law Professor for the 2010-2011 academic year.
In addition to his other committee work for the University, Professor Derrick serves as faculty advisor to the University of Mississippi chapter of the law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta and serves as University Organist, providing music for official ceremonies of the University.
