Westlaw and Lexis Summer Access
During the summer, the following restrictions are placed on legal research platforms:
In order to have full summer access to Westlaw, continuing students need to extend their passwords.
Students must extend their passwords for the following academic uses:
- Summer law school classes and study abroad programs
- Law Review and Journal, including write-on competitions
- Research assistant
- Moot Court
- Unpaid internship/externship
Graduating students can extend access for 6 months after graduation by registering for Grad Elite. Students who request a summer extension before May 30, 2016 will receive 60 hours of access per month for June, July, August, September, October and November. All graduates will also automatically retain limited access to lawschool.westlaw.com career-related databases for 18 months following graduation.
For questions and assistance, please contact our Westlaw representative, Philip Hadley.
No registration for summer access is required if you already have a registered Lexis Advance ID.
Students with a valid Lexis Advance ID will have unlimited access to all legal and news contents to be used for ALL purposes this summer– including work they perform at a law firm, corporation, or government agency.
Graduates automatically have Lexis Advance access for 6 months after graduation. Just continue to use the same username and password you used in law school. You’ll also have access to exclusive resources related to the transition from law school to employment and a Graduate Rewards Program.
Graduates conducting verifiable 501(c)(3) public interest work may sign up for the Lexis ASPIRE Program, which provides 12 months of free access to federal and state cases, codes, regulations, law reviews, Shepard’s® Citation Service and Matthew Bender® treatises.
