These are some of the questions Clinics and Externships can help answer – RSVP to our upcoming events to find out more

Many students enter law school full of excitement and optimism, only to find themselves overwhelmed at the number of options, early return on grades, and volume of work.  The Clinical and Experiential Education Department is here to help.  Clinics and Externships offer REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE – the opportunity to learn by observing or participating in actual legal proceedings or situations, FOR CREDIT.  Students are given the opportunity to work closely with practicing attorneys on real cases by interviewing clients, researching, writing, and observing legal proceedings, then bring those experiences into the classroom for roundtable discussions.

Here is a short sample of the questions Clinics and Externships can help you answer or prepare for:

  1. How do you use your own personal strengths to stand out among other competitors when applying for employment? Strengths outside GPA and class rank.
  2. What are some of the best ways to become comfortable on your own in a work environment rather than in a class environment?
  3. What is one skill that has been predominately present in your career that you feel was not emphasized enough during your legal education?
  4. What is something you wish someone had told you when you were a 1L regarding how to best prepare for “the real world”?

The Clinical and Experiential Education Department is here with answers to these, and many other questions. To learn more, we invite you to join the Clinical and Experiential Education Department on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, or Thursday, September 28, 2017, from Noon – 1:00pm in the Eleazer Courtroom for an exciting and informative open discussion of all things Experiential Education as part of our Lunch and Learn series.  Get up to speed on how experiential education “flips the classroom” by sending students out to a field placement to gain real world experience, then brings them into a classroom setting for roundtable discussions designed to reinforce each student’s professional learning goals and expectations. Please RSVP by September 21, to if you are able to attend, and specifying the date.

You should also mark your calendars for the combined Externship/Clinic Roundtable
