Participating employers. Employers participating in this Session include:
Wenzel Fenton Cabassa P.A. (1Ls and 2Ls for Summer Law Clerk positions in its Tampa, FL office). The employer has provided the following information:
Wenzel Fenton Cabassa is a labor and employment law firm that primarily represents employees. Law clerks will review cases, prepare demand letters, pleadings, and discovery, and conduct legal research as needed. The ability to think critically is a must for this position. Prior knowledge of labor and employment law is not required. This summer, we are seeking law clerks who will be 2L or 3L students at the start of the 2016-2017 academic year. Our summer law clerks must be available for at least three full days per week, with preference given to those who are able to maintain a full-time schedule.
Gentry Elder Law, P.A. (2Ls and 3Ls for a School Year Law Clerk (Continuing into Summer) position in its Seminole, FL office). The employer has provided the following information:
Gentry Elder Law, P.A. is the law office of Brooks N. Gentry, JD, LLM. We serve clients of all ages throughout Pinellas County, helping them with a wide variety of matters involving Estate Planning, Medicaid/VA Planning, Probate, DCF Investigations/Elder Exploitation, Alzheimer’s Counseling & Advocacy, Small Business Succession Planning, and Digital Asset Preservation. We are a small, local firm dedicated to helping our seniors and their families in any way we can, which sometimes requires very creative solutions. The keys to success in this specialty are being aware of and compassionate towards the unique needs of our clients since many are in crisis, of an advanced age, or both. Clerking in our office will likely entail assisting with general office operations, document drafting and execution, client management, legal research, practice development, and on-site facility visits.
All applications for OCR are via Symplicity and the “OCR” tab. Employers participating in OCR can be viewed in the Spring 2016 OCR Participating Employer Guide (located in the Symplicity Document Library), which also provides detailed information on the application materials required by each employer. Step-by-step instructions for how to apply to OCR opportunities via Symplicity are available in the Spring 2016 OCR Instructions (located in the Symplicity Document Library). Applicants can apply, and modify applications, until the deadline, as no candidate materials are sent to an employer until after the close of the application period.
Stetson Law and this Career Development staff takes enormous pride in the fact that we consistently receive positive feedback from employers on our candidates’ preparedness. Accordingly:
(1) Each document submitted for an OCR opportunity will be reviewed to ensure that it meets the proper formatting standards. If a candidate submits documents in an improper format, the candidate’s materials will not be given to the employer.
(2) Each candidate must submit all documents requested by the employer, and if all documents are not submitted, the candidate’s materials will not be given to the employer.
