New Jobs Available! Fall 2017 OCR – Session B Application Open Until Wednesday, July 26 at 11:59 p.m.
The next opportunity to apply for Fall 2017 OCR opportunities, Fall 2017 – Session B, is open and applicants can apply, and modify applications, for employers in this Session until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
Don’t forget that there are also opportunities for employment available on the Jobs Board! OCR is one of our TWO places for you to find jobs; the other is the Stetson Law Jobs tab on Symplicity (i.e. Stetson’s “Jobs Board”). Be sure to check the Stetson Law Jobs tab frequently, as opportunities are added here by individual employers on their own and new opportunities appear regularly.
Participating employers. Employers participating in this OCR Session include:
DLA Piper (2Ls for Summer Associate positions in its office(s) in Miami, FL). The employer has provided the following information:
DLA Piper is a global law firm with lawyers located in more than 30 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, positioning us to help companies with their legal needs anywhere in the world. We strive to be the leading global business law firm by delivering quality and value to our clients. DLA Piper’s Miami office is seeking current second year law students who expect to complete the equivalent of four semesters of law school prior to the start of the 2018 summer program. During the summer associate program, our lawyers will provide you with a stimulating, realistic and exciting taste of legal life. You’ll experience challenging days filled with client work, relationship-building opportunities and lively activities. You will be engaged and make an impact in a range of legal assignments and practice areas.
Rumberger Kirk & Caldwell, PA (2Ls for Summer Associate positions in its office(s) in Tallahassee, FL). The employer has provided the following information:
Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell, a firm of 95 trial attorneys, represents both small and large companies throughout the United States from our offices in Orlando, Miami, Tampa, Tallahassee and Birmingham. We work as a team with our clients to resolve a wide variety of legal matters and focus primarily on commercial litigation and the defense of civil lawsuits. Our founding partners cultivated a culture rooted in respect, dignity and fun. We respect and support one another, we treat everyone with dignity and we enjoy the work we do and who we do it with and for. Three decades later, we continue to thrive based on these fundamentals. The Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell Summer Associate Training Program is a comprehensive learning experience. It incorporates legal research, writing, educational workshops, attendance at hearings, depositions, and mediations, and a simulated trial. Supervising attorneys coordinate and evaluate work assignments, provide consultation, and ensure that the summer associate becomes involved integrally in handling cases. In addition to attending seminars and conducting legal research, RKC encourages each summer associate to attend hearings, depositions, and trials, particularly any proceeding for which he or she prepared research and drafted motions and legal briefs. Litigation practice workshops and a simulated trial expose the summer associate to a litigator’s daily tasks. The workshops teach the “nuts and bolts” of trial practice, and assist the summer associate in preparing for the trial. Much of the firm participates as coaches, judges, witnesses, and jurors. Teams of summer associates conduct the trials in a spirit of educational competition. Finally, social and recreational events, including parties at partners’ homes, the annual firm summer picnic, and an annual golf outing complete the summer. These activities allow summer associates to know the firm’s members on a more personal level in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, and provide an opportunity to simply have some fun. The firm’s goal is to expose summer associates to virtually every aspect of a career as a Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell trial attorney, in an interesting, challenging, and rewarding manner.
All applications for OCR are via Symplicity and the “OCR” tab. Step-by-step instructions for how to apply to OCR opportunities via Symplicity are available in the Spring 2017 OCR Instructions (located in the Symplicity Document Library). Applicants can apply, and modify applications, until the deadline, as no candidate materials are sent to an employer until after the close of the application period.
Stetson Law OCR Policy Affirmation. Every student participating in OCR must complete Stetson Law’s On Campus Recruiting Policy Agreement Form (found by clicking here) before their materials will be sent to the employer. Note that if you completed this for a prior application Session you do not need to do it again (i.e. it only needs to be done once).
