SOCIAL JUSTICE ADVOCACY PROGRAM – ATTENTION 1Ls & PART TIME STUDENTS
If you believe you should use your law degree to insure respect for a person’s humanity; to protect the economic and social development of communities; and/or to prevent large institutions from abusing their power, you should apply to the Social Justice Advocacy (SJA)concentration program now. If you came to law school hoping to become a human rights or civil rights advocate on a local, national or international level, you should consider the SJA Concentration Program. If you are concerned about issues of reform in either the civil or criminal justice system in this nation, you should apply to the SJA program now.
If you have not yet decided but are thinking about applying, please join Professors Bickel and Scully at an informational/ question and answer session on the Social Justice Concentration Program on Wednesday, March 4th at 12 noon in the Eleazer Courtroom. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Candidates in the SJA program receive guidance from faculty mentors, participate in experiential learning opportunities that help them develop an area of expertise, do advanced research and writing on social justice issues and pursue a focused curriculum that will aid them in shaping their criminal and/or civil justice careers. To learn more about the program or to apply to the program, click on the law school’s homepage, then click on the Centers for Excellence/Advocacy, and under the heading Academic Programs click on the Certification in Social Justice Advocacy. The deadline for current first year students to apply to the Social Justice Concentration Program is March 27th at 5 p.m..
