What are the American Inns of Court?
The American Inns of Court are local voluntary organizations formed with the mission to improve the skills, professionalism and ethics of the bench and bar. Most organizations are made up of judges, lawyers, law professors and law students. Each organization generally meets once a month to host a program and discussion on timely issues in the law. Inn membership is an excellent way to meet a network of attorneys committed to staying current on issues of professionalism and ethics. Please see application for a list and description of each Inn.
How can students get involved?
There are several Inns of Court in the Tampa Bay area. Students who are interested in serving in an Inn should complete the application. The Office of Student Affairs will then work with local Inns to fill their membership. Students selected should be committed to fulfilling their term. Generally, terms are for one academic year. In some circumstances, a student may be selected to serve for one semester.
How much does Inn membership cost?
Each Inn sets its own membership fees, with many having a special student membership rate. Stetson contributes to student dues, however, some dues cost more than the subsidy. The price breakdown is included in the student application.
Where do local Inns meet?
There are Inns all over the Tampa Bay area, generally, within 25 miles.
When do Inns meet?
Each Inn selections the date and time of their meeting. Generally, Inns meet after work on weekdays.
