National Trial Competition - Registration for Witnesses

Stetson Law Invites non-attorneys to Volunteer to Judge the
National Trial Competition, Region 6, Mock Trial Competition
Feb. 5–7, 2016

Location for Competition:
Pinellas County Justice Center
14250 49th Street North
Clearwater, FL 33762

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a witness in a trial? If you have, we have an excellent opportunity for you to experience the drama of testifying. All you need to do is to volunteer to play a witness during the regional round of the National Trial Competition hosted by Stetson University College of Law.

What should you expect?
The witness position is very important. Each mock trial includes four witnesses — two for the plaintiff (the party who brought the lawsuit) and two for the defendant. Prior to the competition, witnesses will be provided with the witness statement/deposition, any exhibits pertaining to the witness, and Guidelines for Witnesses. There will be a brief meeting for all witnesses just prior to each round, during which time all questions and concerns will be addressed. After the witness meeting and before the round begins, the student advocate who will be directing your testimony will meet with you to discuss your testimony.

We are looking for non-attorney volunteers to fill the witness positions during these mock trials. Witnesses will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the Pinellas County Justice Center. Witnesses should be over the age of 18.
