Welcome to the MFA of the Americas

Congratulations on your admission to Stetson University and the MFA of the Americas! This page is designed to be a resource as you prepare to join us.

Going forward, you'll need your Stetson University username and the password you created to access some of the forms below through your MyStetson account. You should receive your account information shortly following your commitment to enroll at Stetson.

If at any point you need assistance in completing these steps, please don't hesitate to contact the Office of Admissions at 800-688-0101 or [email protected].

Access your Stetson Email Account

Once you've completed the Intent to Enroll form, the Office of Information technology (IT) will create your Stetson University email account. Even after you graduate, you'll have access to this account. An email with your username, password and directions on logging into your account will be sent to the email address given on your application.

Submit your FAFSA

If you're planning to request financial aid, you'll need to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). More information about financial aid for graduate students is located in the Office of Student Financial Planning's website.

Health Forms, Immunization Records, Counseling Services

You have the option to complete an online health history form and provide Stetson Health Service a copy of your immunization records to keep at the university should you need to use health services while a student. This is not required.

The health history form is available on your My Stetson account. To access your account for the first time, use your Stetson University ID (SUID) number as the username and password. You'll be prompted to change this password once you've logged in to your account. Please check your VIP Page or email for your SUID number and password to access your account.

Additionally, you can complete the immunization form and return it to the Stetson Health Service at:

Register for Classes

Once you complete your intent to enroll form, you'll be automatically registered for the Introductory course in your chosen genre: Prose or Poetry in the Expanded Field. For students taking the Exploratory Path, you can choose which genre you'd like to study first (provided that course hasn't filled). We encourage you to start with the genre you are most likely to select for your Advanced and Final Project Period Courses (though we also understand that paths change as the creative work unfolds).

For questions about the registration process, contact:

Hatter1card (Student ID)

Your Hatter1card is your Stetson University identification card, activity card, debit card, library card and access card. We encourage all MFA students to obtain your Student ID, and to carry the ID with you to the residencies, especially the international residencies. Many museums, theaters, etc, offer student discounts, but you'll need to show a valid ID.

You can receive your ID in person or by mail. To receive your card on campus, visit the Stetson One Stop in the Rinker Welcome Center.

To receive your ID by mail, follow these two steps:

  1. Complete this online form:
  2. Email Carol Littlefield at [email protected] to let her know that you're an MFA student who has completed the form. Include your mailing address in the email, so she'll know where to send your ID.

If you have questions, you can contact Carol directly at 386-822-7782.
