Get ready for caroling, uplifting messages and special music during Stetson University’s annual Yule Log Lighting. The event will be Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. at Hulley Tower.
Lighting the Yule Log has been a Stetson tradition since 1948. The ancient ceremony represents the bringing of light and renewal into the cold and darkness of winter. For our community, it is a chance to take a break from studying, to enjoy fellowship before finals and the winter break, and to join in our diverse religious and spiritual traditions.
This year’s Yule Log Lighting will feature musical performances from Stetson singers and string quartet, along with messages from student cultural and religious organizations and the university chaplains. We also continue our tradition of joining our voices in caroling and setting aside any unfortunate events of the past year by putting holly sprigs into the fire. Afterward, we invite everyone to the Carlton Union Building for hot cocoa and cookies.
