Have some time on Saturday, Sept. 27? Volunteers are needed to plant trees at DeLeon Springs State Park as part of a huge reforestation project. According to park rangers, this is the highest priority restoration project underway at the park right now! The specific project will be planting pine saplings on a 40acre section of what was once a 500-acre swath of pine flatwoods. If you want to participate in this project please email Heather Grant (hgrant) ASAP. More details about the project are below.
The project will last from 8 a.m.-12noon. We will carpool from Stetson leaving no later than 8:15 a.m. Swimming in the spring and eating pancakes at the Sugar Mill after the project is a possibility.
Volunteers will need to bring:
– Water Bottle
– Work gloves
Please invite your friends and reply ASAP if you are interested in going.
