Hatterthon is Stetson University’s Dance Marathon, a yearlong fundraising initiative that benefits our local Children’s Miracle Network hospital, Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
As an organization, Hatterthon hopes to inspire, empower and encourage our peers/community to support a hospital that impacts so many families in Central Florida. Throughout this program, Stetson students give back to their community to help future generations.
In 2017, Hatterthon’s inaugural year, students raised $10,861.17. On a mission to exceed first-year efforts, Hatterthon was committed to raising $20,000 in 2018 for local children, but Stetson students exceeded expectations and raised $31,201.18!
Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children
Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children was dedicated just over 25 years ago. Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies opened 10 years ago, and together these hospitals became the Arnold Palmer Medical Center, America’s largest medical center dedicated specifically to children, women and babies.
Since the doors opened in 1989, incredible teams of physicians and team members have cared for more than 1.6 million patients. Advanced technology coupled with compassion and dedication have made Arnold Palmer Medical Center one of the most recognized and trusted names in children’s and women’s healthcare. When the hospital opened, a commitment was made to Arnold and Winnie Palmer that “good” would never be good enough, and all team members knew that high standards must be met. Mr. Palmer famously said, “We can do better! We should do better for the children!” And that’s exactly what happened.
During this 25 year period, the Arnold Palmer Medical Center has earned a reputation as one of the leading hospitals of its kind in the Southeast and the nation. Today, this 158- bed, 362,000 square foot facility that uniquely meets the healthcare needs of children by providing a full spectrum of pediatric specialties and sub-specialties including trauma and emergency care, cardiology and heart surgery, craniomaxillofacial surgery, critical care, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, neurosciences, hematology/oncology, hospitalist services, orthopedics and sports medicine, pulmonology, genetics and palliative care, general surgery and community outreach services.
Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children has recently expanded its transport services with the addition of a third vehicle for the
pediatric acute care transport team. Arnold Palmer Medical Center is nationally ranked in seven specialties and is the only children’s hospital in the Greater Orlando area to be recognized. Funds raised for CMN Hospitals through programs like Hatterthon allow this nonprofit, pediatric hospital to support its areas of greatest need. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care.
The 2019 Hatterthon will take place Saturday, February 23, 2019. Registration is currently open and will close February 21, 2019.
