Kimberly Van Gundy
Kim Van Gundy earned undergraduate degrees in education and English/journalism from Castleton University in Vermont and a M.S.Ed. in Higher Education – Counseling from Fordham University in New York. She worked professionally as a college admissions officer, a US Department of Education TRIO program counselor, a community college Special Services Counselor, an advisor to non-traditional, first-generation college and immigrant student populations, and as an adjunct faculty member.
Van Gundy's many volunteer activities have included service on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Seminole County (FL) Public Schools, the Families In Transition program, Take Stock In Children, the University of Miami Parents Council, the Board of Directors of the Seminole State College Foundation, Leadership Seminole, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Florida Department of Children’s foster care program.
As the wife of an NBA coach, she has been a founding member of the Miami Heat Family Foundation, the Orlando Magic Backcourt, and Pistons With a Purpose, all philanthropic community service organizations that have raised millions of dollars and provided countless hours of service in their respective communities.
Van Gundy and her husband, Stan, are the parents of Shannon; Michael; Alison, a junior at Stetson University in the Bonner Leaders Program; and Kelly, in her first year at Stetson. With the help of their children, the Van Gundys are also “serial adopters” of rescue dogs and cats.
She was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2016.
