Stetson University is proud of both its residential campus and its tradition of a vibrant campus community. The on-campus experience provides residential students with a number of benefits not available to commuter students, including support from residential staff that live and work in our buildings alongside our residents, access to university resources and academic buildings just a short walk from their home-on-campus, and opportunities to build relationships within the large campus community. In addition, national research shows that students living on campus have higher grade point averages, higher graduation rates, and greater involvement in university and student organizations. Therefore, Stetson has a three-year residency requirement in which all students are required to live on campus for the first three years of their enrollment at the university.
Exceptions to the residency requirement may be granted to those students who satisfy one or more of the following criteria on or before August 1st AND submit the Request for Residency Exemption found on Housing Central.
Incoming students interested in living off-campus while attending Stetson can learn more about the Request for Residency Exemption.

- Requests for ADA/Accommodation submitted after the Priority Deadline of April 1 will be reviewed following Housing Self-Selection in April. Students eligible to participate in Self-Selection may attempt to select a space in residential housing that meets their accommodation needs. If they are unable to do so, an appropriate housing assignment will be provided after Housing Self-Selection on a rolling basis throughout the month of May, June and July.

Stetson University provides a unique experience allowing students to live with their animals on campus. There are four different categories of Animals approved by Residential Living and Learning; Pets, Emotional Support Animals, Service Animals and Service Dogs-In-Training. All animals living on campus must be approved through a request process. Students wishing to bring an animal to campus must submit the Request for Animal-in-Residence found on their Housing Central Home Page.
Emotional Support and Service Animals may live in any residential building, however, we do encourage students eligible to participate in Housing Self-Selection to choose an assignment in an Animal-Friendly Housing Location, if not already placed by RL&L in an assignment prior to Housing Self-Selction in accordance with your ESA application.
Pets and Service Dogs-in-Training will only be approved to live in Animal-Friendly Housing. Therefore, incoming students eligible to participate in Housing Self-Selection should make every effort to select a room in one of our three Animal-Friendly Housing locations during Housing Self-Selection, if not already placed by RL&L in an assignment prior to Housing Self-Selction in accordance with your animal in residence application. . If Animal-Friendly Housing is not available during the self-selection process, the student should select an available space outside of Animal-Friendly Housing. The student's Request for Animal-in-Residence will remain in submitted status and, should space in Animal-Friendly Housing come available at a later date, the student will be offered a reassignment.
