Temperature Guide

Welcome to your new room! In order to accommodate your room temperature needs and comfort, each on-campus housing option has adjustable thermostat controls within the building. Please refer to the information presented below to properly control the temperature for your respective housing location. Proper handling of the temperature controls for your room is essential to conserve energy on campus, help the environment, and prevent unnecessary maintenance requests. If you have followed the directions as written, but are still experiencing issues with your room’s temperature, please contact our Facilities staff by submitting a maintenance request.

  1. Select mode auto/cool/heat/off
  2. While in heat/cool mode use up/down arrow to select desired set point
  3. If you choose auto it will switch from cool to heat automatically based on desired set points
  4. Campus-Wide Policy Setpoint Standards: Cooling 75°F / Heating 68°F
  5. Occupants Can Raise/Lower the Standard Temperature Setpoint +/- 2°F

*Setting Temperature beyond setpoint standards may damage thermostat and will incur a fee of $250.

(Note: Setpoint Automatically Resets Mid-Morning Each Day)

  • Campus-Wide Policy Setpoint Standards: Cooling 75°F / Heating 68°F
  • Occupants Can Raise/Lower the Standard Temperature Setpoint +/- 2°F

(Note: Setpoint Automatically Resets Every 24 Hours)

Controlling moisture is ultimately the key to controlling mold in your residential space.

Molds may begin growing indoors whenever mold spores land on wet or damp surfaces.

Molds produce allergens, and individual reactions will differ. Some people may not be affected, while others may experience hay-fever type symptoms or have a stronger reaction. If you believe you may be having a reaction to mold allergens, contact Student Health Services for an appointment.

There are many types of mold, and none of them will grow without water or moisture. Indoor mold growth can be prevented by controlling moisture indoors.

PREVENTION STEPS YOU CAN TAKE

Following the guidelines below can help prevent mold and mildew growth in your residential space:

  • Keep windows closed and locked
  • Store wet clothing
  • Keep moisture sources away from HVAC units
  • Don't obstruct HVAC units or vents
  • Know your heating system
  • Keep appliances away from thermostats
  • Clean your residential space regularly

If you believe there is a mold or mildew issue in your room that is pervasive or resistant to removal, please report it by submitting a School Dude work order with Facilities Management.
