P.Ts.U. PRIMATE DESCRIBES PREPARATION FOR BARTHOLOMEW'S VISIT
The visit by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is projected to be a stay of several days including participation in state and church events, liturgies, and meetings with believers. The primate of the PTsU [Orthodox Church of Ukraine], Metropolitan Epifany, spoke about this in an interview on the Priamii television channel.
He reported that an organizing committee will be created in late May for preparing the arrival of the ecumenical patriarch in Ukraine, and then the details of his visit will become known.
"We will not get ahead of ourselves. We see that the situation with the pandemic is ambiguous. It is difficult to foresee what will be in several months.
"We are planning to create an organizing committee in late May for preparing the arrival of the ecumenical patriarch in Ukraine. The details will be known then. The visit is projected to be for several days. It is not only a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of the independence of Ukraine, but also participation in worship services and in meetings and conversation with the faithful. The schedule will be full," the primate noted.
He noted that the visit will have an ecclesiastical and political character, since Patriarch Bartholomew is coming at the invitation of both the church and the state. (tr. by PDS, posted 5 May 2021)
