CRIMINAL CASE OPENED AGAINST JEHOVAH'S WITNESS FROM TYVA
In Kyzyl, the capital of the republic of Tyva, the Jehovah's Witness Anatoly Senin was arrested. A criminal case was opened against him, the website of the religious association says.
Presumably, the case was introduced on the basis of article 282.2 of the Criminal Code—participation in and arranging the activity of an extremist organization. After his arrest, the man was interrogated at the Investigative Committee. Shortly the court will select a measure of restriction for Senin.
In the evening of 28 January, the F.S.B. conducted searches in at least four homes of believers. The report on the website notes that the security forces also "searched and questioned a man who does not share the convictions of the Jehovah's Witnesses." Technology was confiscated from him.
The believers stressed that Tyva becomes the 61st region of Russia where the authorities have prosecuted Jehovah's Witnesses. (tr. by PDS, posted 31 January 2021)
