About me -- I teach because I like to organize information, I like meeting students, and I like a job that's different every day. I teach math because it's the only thing I'm good at. I teach at the college level to avoid the spit balls. My research field is topology, but I have also worked in differential equations, the history of math and science, and I've developed software for teaching math. My grading style is to require supporting work, not just answers, to pay attention to details like diction and notation, and I do give partial credit when some understanding is shown.
Yes, I'm a morning person. I like birds because my family watched and enjoyed them as I was growing up. My book has gone to the publisher, perhaps it will come out later this year. Over the Christmas break I did nothing but prepare this course. And I actually prefer chalk.
