ENGL 100: College Writing emphasizes shorter units of composition (sentences and paragraphs) and includes significant attention to matters of grammar, punctuation, usage, spelling, and mechanics. Students are usually placed in ENGL 100 so that they can brush up on the skills essential to success in ENGL101. Dr. Terri Witek, Dr John Pearson, Dr Michael Barnes, and Dr Megan O'Neill frequently teach this course. ENGL 101: Writing and Rhetoric emphasizes the development of rhetorical strategies for reaching a college audience: clarity, awareness of situation, purpose, appropriate support, and individual voice. As the Foundation Writing course for Stetson's General Education program, ENGL 101 acts in concert with the skills taught in FSEM courses. See here for the usual and customary grading expectations in ENGL 101. |
