Juried Student Art Exhibit Seeks Entries

Stetson University’s Homer and Dolly Hand Art Center

Stetson University students can submit up to four visual works by Wednesday, Oct. 26, for the 27th Annual Undergraduate Juried Arts Exhibit at the Homer and Dolly Hand Art Center.

Winners will receive awards from $50 to $500, and have their work featured in the Hand Art Center exhibition from Nov. 4 to Dec. 9.

The Undergraduate Juried Arts Exhibit is designed to showcase all student art and encourage art exploration — regardless of the student’s major. Artists with winning submissions will be notified Oct. 28 at 2 p.m., and works not included in the exhibition can be picked up at the Hand Art Center through Oct. 29 at 4 p.m.

Students can submit paintings, mixed media, illustrations, photography, digital arts and sculptures. Submission will be judged on composition, originality, overall effect and display readiness on Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The piece must be solely created by the artist and must have attached the 2016 contest form, which can be obtained at the Hand Art Center.

The awards ceremony and reception will take place Nov. 4 on the opening night of the exhibition from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The purpose of the Undergraduate Juried Arts Exhibit is to convey to a wide audience the range and significance of the visual arts.
