Korac named Tennis A-Sun Player of the Week

Stetson’s Arijana Korac has been named as Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Wed., Apr. 6. This is the first weekly honor of Korac’s career.

The sophomore from Orebro, Sweden helped the Hatters to the top of the A-Sun standings last week by going a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles play as the Hatters defeated both Kennesaw State and Lipscomb.

In Stetson’s 4-3 win over Lipscomb, Korac teamed with Isabella Fernandez at No. 1 doubles for a 6-3 win, then clinched the team victory for the Hatters with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.

Against Lipscomb, Korac and Fernandez helped Stetson secure the doubles point with a 7-6 win, and Korac’s 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles helped the Hatters to a 4-2 victory.

For the season, Korac owns a 12-4 singles record and is 6-7 in doubles play.

Stetson (8-8 overall, 4-0 A-Sun) visits UCF on Wednesday and continues A-Sun play Saturday at FGCU.
