Paving the way for the new semester

While navigating the challenges offered by your next level of courses, plotting your course from building to building has just become easier, courtesy of new and renovated sidewalks and refigured parking lots.

Facilities Management updates the progress of projects east of the Carlton Union Building (CUB):

This updated map shows the new student parking lot between Bert Fish Drive and University Avenue.
  1. The sidewalks on campus that are either new or reopened to pedestrian traffic include:
  • Bert Fish to the Hollis Center and Griffith Hall
  • From Bert Fish to the Coffee Shop north of Conrad Hall
  • Along Bert Fish from Conrad Hall to the Hollis Center.

    The delivery area for Dining Services, the Post Office and Bookstore are available, as of Jan. 8. The wheel chair ramp behind the CUB leading to coffee shop will remain open for the time being. (The area east of the CUB will be fenced off for the duration of the project, due to be completed December 2018.)

  2. The exterior lighting south of the CUB is operable, as of Jan. 8.
  3. Duke Energy will remove several large wood poles beginning Monday, Jan. 11.
  4. Students who live in Conrad Hall and Houses 1, 2, 3 and 4 should park in the new parking lot north of Houses 1 and 2.
  5. The parking areas east of the duPont-Ball Library and south of Sage Hall are available for use.
  6. And, the parking area south of Nemec Hall is available for use.
  7. Ultimately, 25 parking spaces will be added when the project is completed.
