Stetson Psychology Professor Chris Ferguson commented about the role of villains in the recent, real-life news story of the prisoner escapees, David Sweat and Richard Matt, from an upstate New York maximum-security prison, in Yahoo Health, and Yahoo News, June 28, “Why We Couldn’t Stop Watching the David Sweat and Richard Matt Fugitive Drama.”

On June 25, many news outlets, including wowktv.com and gameskinny.com, News-Medical.net, reported on Stetson Psychology Professor Chris Ferguson’s research on the significance of violence in video games on youth.

“What Your Harry Potter House Reveals About Your Personality, According to Science,” featuring the research by Assistant Professor of Psychology Laura Crysel, ran in Health.com, My informs, Driss vids blog.

Inside Higher Education quoted director of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education and Professor of Law Peter Lake on June 30 in an article addressing the increased use of external adjudicators in Title IX claims of sexual assault. The story also ran in MyInforms.

Associate Dean and Professor of Law Michael Allen discussed the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in King v. Burwell for the June 25 Bay News 9 noontime news program.  The Tampa Bay Times quoted Allen on June 26 regarding the U.S. Supreme Court decision to preserve the health insurance subsidies available under President Obama’s signature health law. Allen was quoted by the Tampa Tribune on June 27 in regards to the U.S. Supreme Court’s declaration that same-sex couples have a fundamental right to marry everywhere in the United States. The Ocala StarBanner quoted Allen on June 26 in an article about the local/state reaction to Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage.

Associate Dean and Professor of Law Susan Rozelle is cited in the June 29 SCOTUSblog and Supreme Court dissenting opinion in the capital punishment case, Glossip v. Gross.

The Houston Chronicle and Nebraska.tv reported on June 26 that Assistant Dean John Keyser presented on ways to understand how institutional rankings are created at the annual Rapid Insight conference.

The June 30 Tampa Tribune reported on a same-sex divorce case before the 2DCA at the Tampa Law Center.

“Florida team helps BLM assess National Monument Lands,” reported in IslandsWeekly.com, June 30, was led by Stetson’s Environmental Science Professor Wendy Anderson.

Pierre Pilote steps down after 22 years as Stetson tennis director: Coach helped make men’s program a success, reported in Daytona Beach News-Journal, June 29.

On June 25, Stetson rising junior Joe Beery was featured in The Daytona Beach News-Journal and TimesGazette.com for his achievements in sports and academics during his past two years at Stetson.

Wilton Bulletin.com, June 29, reported several high school graduates plan to attend Stetson University.

On June 24, The Daytona Beach News-Journal ran an article, dated June 27, 1940, in The Flagler Tribune, reporting that a Flagler County student would soon be receiving a Stetson music scholarship in the fall.

In the article, “DeLand’s small-town feel inspires big-time pride” in The Daytona Beach News-Journal on June 29, Scott Kent, Opinion Page editor, publicly encourages all local residents to vote for DeLand, “The Athens of Florida” for the title of “Best Main Street in America” in the Parade Magazine’s competition. He specifically mentioned the “tree-canopied Stetson University campus.”

On June 26, thenewcivilrightsmovement.com credited Stetson for a photo that was used in an article about Clarence Thomas.

Bernier named Associate Vice President and CIO of Information Technology at Stetson, reported in WN.com.

Stetson’s satellite summer football camp was mentioned in PennLive.com, June 30.

Alumni in the News:

KLKNTV and other media reported on June 24 that Stetson placed third among the list of law schools with the most honorees this year in Florida Trend’s Legal Elite with more than 400 Stetson Law graduates named in the 2015 Florida Super Lawyers.

WCTV reported June 25 that Attorney General and Law alumna Pam Bondi convened the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking at Stetson Law’s Tampa campus.

Ford Harrison announced on June 25 that Stetson Law graduates Todd Aidman, Ed Carlstedt and Tracey Jaensch have been named to the “2015 Florida Legal Elite” list by Florida Trend magazine.

Thomas Topping, education alum, has been named one of five new district-level administrators in Pinellas County Schools, as reported in Newsroom.pcsb.org, June 25.

On June 27, benzinga.com reported on Sean Emory, Portfolio Manager at GFG Capital & Author of TheMarketMeter.com. Previously, he was an investment trustee and equity/fixed income analyst for the Stetson University endowment. He is a Stetson alumnus, in finance.

“Publix expands order: Family’s Golden Lion Café tartar sauce now carried in 400 stores,” featuring the success of Stetson Family Enterprise alum Chris Marlow ’12, ran in Daytona Beach News-Journal, June 29.

The Mount Airy News June 29 featured Law alumnus Richard Johnson.

The Arlington Bureau reported on June 26 that Holland & Knight has added Law alumnus Michael Millett as an associate attorney working on the firm’s public finance team.

According to Carlton Fields on June 23, Law alumnus Mac R. McCoy was  appointed a United States Magistrate Judge for the Fort Myers Division of the Middle District of Florida.

According to Super Lawyers June 29, Law alumnus William D. Keith has been named a Florida Super Lawyer every year for the last ten years.

Law alumna Kathleen Passidomo was honored as a top legislator by the Trial Lawyers Bar, as reported by the June 30 Florida Politics.

Mark Shuttleworth, Stetson alumnus, was featured in the West Volusia Beacon, June 29, in an article, “Culture Vultures,” for being the “go-to-guy” for his turn-of-the-century salvage and restoration business, Florida Victorian Architectural Antiques in Downtown DeLand.

On June 29, US Official News highlighted 1990 Stetson English literature alum Peter Preston, “A Man of Many Identities: guidance counselor at Polk State Chain of Lakes Collegiate High School, musician, academic team coach, Gypsy, and city commissioner.”

On June 27, The Daytona Beach News-Journal “Moving Ahead” section reported that Stetson humanities alumna Jana Dewees has joined Adams, Cameron & Co., Realtors.
