Michaud Opens Play at NCAA Tennis Championship

Alizee Michaud, tennisStetson’s Alizee Michaud opens play at the 2015 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship on Wednesday at Baylor University’s Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. Michaud will face Mississippi State’s Jasmine Lee, 5:30 p.m., Friday.

Michaud, the 2015 Atlantic Sun Conference Player and Freshman of the Year, is currently ranked as the nation’s No. 91 singles player in the latest ITA rankings, while Lee is ranked 23rd.

Michaud was not only undefeated in singles play this spring (15-0) she failed to drop a set. Michaud was a perfect 6-0 in Atlantic Sun Conference matches. She is the first Stetson women’s tennis player to be selected as an individual automatic qualifier.

Lee, a sophomore, owns a spring record of 16-7. She was a first-team All-SEC selection for the Bulldogs.

The winner of Wednesday’s match will face either third overall seed Brooke Austin of Florida, or UCLA’s Jennifer Brady on Thursday.
