Men’s Hoops help local kids walk to school

Men's Hoops help kids walk to schoolStetson men’s basketball participated in the annual International Walk to School Day on Wednesday at Blue Lake Elementary School.

International Walk to School Day, which first began in 1997, is a global event celebrated each year in over 40 countries. The purpose of the event is to encourage school-aged children to walk or ride their bikes to school on a regular basis instead of taking the bus or being driven by their parents. Students are also encouraged to use crosswalks and be alert when walking and/or biking to and from school.

“We participated in this event last year and it’s a great opportunity for us to be able to help build up young kids and hopefully make an impact in some way,” said Stetson head coach Corey Williams. “We want to promote good health and inspire these kids. By showing up and supporting International Walk to School Day we hope they know that we believe in them.”
