Stetson presents Chicago-style Improv

IMPROV-9-14Stetson University presents the Chicago-style Improv Show, performed by ‘No Refunds,’ Thursday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Sept. 28, in Stetson Theatre Arts’ ‘Second Stage’ located inside the Museum of Art, 600 N. Woodland Blvd., adjacent to the DeLand campus. Showtimes are 8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 25-27; and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28.

Come see the hilarious antics and intriguing stories in this year’s unique improv comedy show!

Caution Notice: This show is for mature audiences due to the coarse language and sexual content.

As with any improv show, the ensemble of actors that will take the stage will be relying on suggestions and participation from the audience members. The show will be completely improvised.

“Improv is a contradiction. Teams will spend hour after hour, week after week, working together in the vacuum of rehearsal just to give a performance which is entirely…improvised,” Kevin Kearney, director, said.

With every improvised performance, each moment is its own unique experience, and the audience becomes privy to a completely novel world populated with new-born characters never to be seen again. Audiences are invited to be a part of a true, once-in-a-lifetime experience at Stetson University.

“For the first time ever, Stetson University is very proud to host the debut performance of their brand new improv team,” said Kearney. “The improv and sketch comedy performances have been so well received that we have cast a second team of entirely new performers! The upcoming performance will open with the new team’s first-ever, long-form improv performance, followed by our house team, ‘No Refunds,’ which has kept Stetson audiences in stitches for the last two seasons. The show will also feature a blend of improv and sketch comedy performed by members of both teams.”

Come unwind and laugh the night away with Stetson University’s burgeoning improv comedy club!

The actors include: Dylan Mullins, Kevin Serrano, Stephanie Wattigny. The opening for No Refunds will be performed by: Luis Garcia, Connor Harting, Alyssa Husbands, Alex Schelb, Mimi Szymkowska, Andrew Townes, and Melissa Trible. (Photo by Ken McCoy)
