Senior Week: Skydiving/President’s Toast

seniorWeek-3girlsAt Stetson, we love seniors… no, not the elderly, though we love them too. We’re talking about the Class of 2014. You’ve seen a lot of changes over the last four years: a new president, a new football program, some demolition, some construction, they even painted the fountain (we’re cool with it now). It’s time to celebrate you, your time on campus, and your tremendous contribution to this place. Check out the step by step guide below, and be sure to join the facebook event page for the latest news and contests (#HatterGrad).

First, check out this video.

April 7: President’s Toast, 5 p.m., President’s Garden

For years, you’ve driven by President Libby’s house and always wondered what it’s like. We hear the columns are filled with John B’s stash of gold coins… Ok, seriously, at this kick-off event the University President will offer encouraging remarks to the senior class and will offer a real champagne toast! Seniors also get to keep their champagne flute as a gift. Free refreshments will be served as well, so come hungry.

SrWeek-VerticalApril 8: Baseball Game, 6:30 p.m., Melching Field

You can’t graduate without going to one more game! We’re serving up FREE Chipotle (limited supply) in the president’s box. Cheer on the Hatters against cross-town rivals, Bethune-Cookman University. Admission is free.

April 9: Stetson Behind the Scenes, 7:00-9:00 p.m. Meet at CUB steps

You already got the formal tour when you visited. Now see Stetson from a whole new angle. Ever wonder how to get to the attic of Elizabeth Hall? What about the Sage basement? See campus as you’ve never seen it before.

April 10: Night Out, 9:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m., DaVinci’s

Save the polar ice caps and walk, or take the trolley from the CUB circle for a free ride running from 9:00 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. Meet at DaVinci’s to pick up a free senior stein that gives you access to all the night’s specials. Feel free to invite staff and faculty!

April 11: Sign Out, 3:00-7:00 p.m., LBC Roof

Seniors line up and climb to the top of the LBC, take pictures, hang out, enjoy the view and sign the Book of Seniors. The “Book of Seniors” is a large, leather-bound book where the signatures of outgoing seniors are kept. Students are allowed to write whatever they like – draw pictures, write quotes, etc. The book is kept and passed down each year to the next class. Most students write encouraging words to future graduating classes. Show up later and watch the sun set across campus!

April 12: Skydiving, all day, Skydive DeLand

You can’t leave the “Skydiving Capital of the World” without launching out of an airplane at least once, right? We’ve booked a limited number of spots for Stetson students at a ridiculous rate. Usually the cost is around $150, but all you need to do is donate $50 to the Senior Class Gift (insert link: https://www2.stetson.edu/senior-gift) and forward your confirmation email to John Kahle ([email protected]). First come, first served. You won’t find a better skydiving deal anywhere!

Also, be sure to come to Hatterpalooza (www2.stetson.edu/hatterpalooza) from 8:00-10:30 p.m. in the Edmunds Center on April 12.
