Violoncello major to perform senior recital

ArielArthurCelloAriel Arthur, candidate for the degree of Bachelor of Music – Orchestral Performance, specializing in the violoncello, will perform her senior recital at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 27, in Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand.

From Orlando, Fla., Arthur is a student of Music Professor David Bjella. Arthur is on the Dean’s List and is principal cellist with the Stetson University Symphony Orchestra. She received Honorable Mention in the Music Teacher National Association’s Young Artist Competition – Regional Division; is winner of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra/Substitute Cellist award; and is the recipient of the William E. Duckwitz Talent Scholarship, Olive T. Rosa Music Scholarship, and the Tinsley Scholarship. She is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society.

After graduating Stetson University on May 10, Arthur will be attending Emory University’s School of Law.

In Sunday’s recital, Arthur will be joined by Kosumo Morishita, piano; Joseph Rubano, continuo; and Jeremy Vigil, harpsichord.

All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and support School of Music seniors as they perform their final recitals as a requirement for their major. The senior recitals are also open to the public, free of charge.
