Upgrades enhance online connection tools

Recent upgrades to the Stetson University mobile app, interactive map and online calendar of events have resulted in new features and functionality that enhance the user experience.

mobileapp

Mobile app: The free Stetson University mobile app has been redesigned from the ground up and puts the university at your fingertips in more ways than ever before. Users now have quick access to mobile-friendly academic course listings, Hatter emergency alerts, daily announcements, segmented news feeds and more. The app’s photo feed is connected to the StetsonU Instagram channel, and the video link showcases selections from the StetsonU YouTube channel.

As before, the app continues to offer users mobile versions of the campus directory, calendar feeds and building locators, and quick access to the DeLand and Gulfport academic library websites. Users also will see icons dedicated to the interests of specific audiences, such as Admissions, Athletics and Alumni. Finally, users can quickly access current weather conditions without exiting the app. To download the app, go directly to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Links to download the app are available on the Mobile Apps web page, which also provides an overview of key features.

campusmap

Campus map: A recent introduction to the campus community is an interactive, mobile-friendly campus map that features photos, descriptions, addresses and links for buildings at all Stetson University campuses and satellite centers. Maps are set up by location, and each location is further subdivided into categories appropriate to the site, such as Administrative, Academics, Housing and Parking.

Details about each building or area may be accessed via a click (or tap) on the map itself, or by using the navigational menu. Users are able to receive directions for any point on any of the maps, may share a location via social media, and may embed a link to a particular location on a website. For example, web pages about Stetson Showcase could include links to the multiple locations that house student presentations that day. Future enhancements to the map will include campus video tours.

calendar

Calendar of Events: The university’s calendar of events has been completely redesigned. The new layout allows users to browse events by day, week or month, or quickly find only events in a particular category of their choosing.

Also new is the ability to follow RSS feeds of a category or categories. Each cultural credit event is highlighted with an asterisk for quick reference. Finally, individual events may be saved to Google, Outlook or mobile calendars.
