Programs available to help students network

career development CDAAThe Office of Career Development and Academic Advising’s (CDAA) new engaged programming initiative kicked off recently with an employer panel discussion in John Tichenor’s BADM 100 class. Professionals from business and industry discussed career goals and gave advice to students about how to choose a major and potential career path. Professionals in attendance included Steve Fernandez, senior manager at Charles Schwab; Pete Matulis, senior vice president/sales team leader at Brown and Brown of Florida; Bill Thompson, president of Thompson Pump and Manufacturing Company; Sean Tamm, financial advisor at Edward Jones; and Shawn Wilson, senior people director for Waffle House.

In addition to the employer panel discussion, CDAA offers a wide variety of opportunities for students to engage with employers and alumni to build their professional networks. Students can participate in programs like mock interviews, job shadowing, site visits, and career fairs to develop networking skills and build relationships that will lead to career success after graduation.
