A call for Opening Celebration speakers

Opening Celebration 2013Attention Hatter faculty and staff!

“It’s not at the beginning, nor is it at the end when we find our significance,” said vice president for Student Affairs Chris Kandus-Fisher. “It’s in the collection of moments that form the foundation of our lives.” Do you know a faculty member, staff member or student who can share their Stetson “Moment” at this year’s Opening Celebration? If so, we want to hear from YOU!

Kandus-Fisher, along with the FOCUS staff and the University Events Office are planning this year’s Opening Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, in the Edmunds Center to welcome Stetson’s new incoming students and their families. The event will encompass the theme of “Every Moment Matters – Stetson University, Dare to be Significant” and will express our values and sense of community. “We are looking for live speakers who can share their personal story in hopes that it will inspire our new Hatters as they begin their journey at Stetson,” said Kandus-Fisher.

“We are asking for nominations of those individuals you feel emulate this theme,” he said. Please email [email protected] and include the subject line – opening celebration nominee. Please send nominations by Wednesday, July 31.

When nominating, please include the following information:

·        Nominee’s full name

·        Nominee’s department and contact info

All nominations will be reviewed by the planning committee and those selected will be contacted with further details.

“Thank you for your participation and we look forward to learning more about our fellow Hatters!”

Go Hatters!
