Senior voice recital to feature music of Schubert, Floyd

Stetson University senior voice major Kirsten Shippert, soprano, will perform her senior recital on Saturday, April 27, at 2:15 p.m., in Lee Chapel inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand.

Shippert, graduating from the Studio of Music Professor Jane Christeson, award-winning mezzo-soprano, who has performed with orchestras throughout the United States, and abroad, is the recipient of the Duckwitz Talent Scholarship, the Dean’s transfer scholarship, and is the third-prize winner of the 2012 Giffin Vocal Competition at Stetson. She will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in music from Stetson University on Saturday, May 11.

A member of Stetson’s Pi Kappa Lambda and Omicron Delta Kappa Honors Societies, Shippert is the daughter of David and Catherine Shippert of Powder Springs, Ga. She currently works in Stetson’s Office of Housing and Residential Life.

In Saturday’s recital, Shippert will perform works by Franz Schubert (1797-1828), Hugo Wolf (1860-1903), Francis Poulenc (1899-1963), Carlisle Floyd (b. 1926), Charles Ives (1874-1954) and Jules Massenet (1842-1912). She will be accompanied by Tammy Miller, piano, and Andy Hunt, clarinet.
