Sean O’Malley to perform Senior Vocal Recital April 13

Sean O'MalleySean O’Malley, baritone, at Stetson University’s School of Music, will be performing his senior recital at 7:45 p.m., Saturday, April 13 in Lee Chapel, located inside Elizabeth Hall, 421 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand, Fla. O’Malley, who will receive his bachelor of music degree in Vocal Performance at Stetson’s commencement ceremony, May 11, 2013, is the student of Dr. Craig Maddox, voice professor at Stetson since 1984.

O’Malley, son of Mark and Lori O’Malley, came to Stetson from Lagrangeville, N.Y. His awards and recognitions since being at Stetson include the Duckwitz Talent Scholarship, Tinsley Scholarship, Freda Webster Music Scholarship, the winner of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) and the winner of the Daytona Beach Choral Society Competition. He served as the music director of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity from 2011-2012.

O’Malley’s senior recital will feature pieces by George Frederic Handel (1685-1759), Henry Purcell (1659-1695), Johannes Brahms (1833-1897), Maurice Ravel (1875-1937), Jacques Ibert (1890-1962), Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), and Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958). O’Malley will be accompanied by Barbara Larson, piano; Ariel Arthur, cello; and mezzo-soprano Mallory Sekel.
