Virtual Lab debuts online

VLab
VLab works on iPads as well as computers and is now available to Stetson faculty, staff and students.

Tired of walking to the computer labs?

Stetson University’s IT department is now offering Virtual Lab – VLab — to students, faculty, and staff. With VLab you no longer have to make the commute to computer labs to be able to access software such as Word or SPSS. VLab allows students, faculty, and staff to access the software from personal computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

The software, primarily Microsoft Office Suite software, can be used on Apple products as well as Windows PC and Android.  All that is needed to access VLab is a Stetson account and Internet access. It is accessible on and off Stetson University’s campus.  And VLab is available 24/7, 365 days a year.

IT provides support for both Windows and Macintosh, iPads included. All keyboard strokes, mouse clicks, and screen movements are transmitted between your computer and the VLab system, and work can be saved to the G: Drive, a USB stick, or printed on a user’s local printer.

Like all technology, VLab will have upgrades and routine maintenance which may cause some interruption in service estimated to last only a few hours. Upgrades are intended to take place in between semesters to cause minimal frustration for the Stetson community.
