Stetson University junior center fielder Chrissy Morello (Ormond Beach, Fla.) has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Softball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

It is Stetson’s first conference Player of the Week selection in four years.

Morello batted .583 (8-for-15) last week to help lead the Hatters to a 5-0 record at the Stetson Classic.  She hit safely in all five contests, including three multi-hit games, and stole three bases without being caught.  The elementary education major maintained a .632 on-base percentage and scored six runs en route to all-tournament team honors.

For the season Morello is batting .362 with three doubles, a triple, four RBI and 15 runs scored.  She is also 9-for-10 in stolen base attempts.  Morello has hit safely in nine straight games and has reached base safely in 18 straight games.

Morello becomes the first Hatter to earn Player of the Week honors since Andrea Migliori was picked in March of 2009.

Winners of seven straight and 12 out of 13, Stetson (13-6) will host Colgate in doubleheader Wednesday at 4 p.m.
