For the second consecutive week, Stetson University women’s basketball senior guard Shanasa Sanders (Jacksonville, Fla./Cincinnati/Ribault HS) has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week.

Sanders averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game last week as the Hatters posted home wins over ETSU and USC Upstate.  Sanders shot 50 percent from the field (13-26) and was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.  Defensively she had three blocks and three steals on the week without committing a foul.

Against ETSU Sanders scored nine of the Hatters points during a game-breaking 21-0 run.  She also scored 17 first-half points against USC Upstate to lift Stetson a 25-point halftime lead.  Sanders also helped the Hatters extend their home court winning streak to 16, the fourth-longest active streak in Division I.

A Business major, Sanders ranks fourth in the conference in scoring (13.5), ninth in rebounding (6.6), and eighth in assists (2.7).  She is averaging 19.4 points per game over her last five games.

The award is the second career A-Sun Player of the Week honor for Sanders and her sixth weekly honor from the league (she was Newcomer of the Week four times last season).  The Hatters have had four A-Sun Player of the Week selections this season.

Stetson (18-6, 11-2 A-Sun) will visit Northern Kentucky at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
