The National Jurist magazine recently announced that Stetson Law Dean Emeritus and Distinguished University Professor Lizabeth Moody has been named among their “25 Most Influential People in Legal Education.”

The National Jurist requested nominations from every law school in the country, receiving more than 85. Editors narrowed the list to 50 and then asked 350 people in legal education, including all law school deans, to rate each nominee based on how much they influenced them in the past year.

The 25 finalists will be included in the January issue of the National Jurist.

In the fall, the American Bar Association Women Trailblazers Law Project selected Moody to be included among women who made history in the legal profession. Moody’s oral history of her extraordinary legal career will be housed at the Library of Congress, the Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America at Harvard University and on the ABA website.

Moody was Stetson Law’s vice president and dean from 1994-1999, opening the state-of-the art Dolly & Homer Hand Law Library and laying the foundation for the college’s part-time law and international programs. She was honored by the Baltic state of Estonia’s Higher Education Accreditation Centre in March 2000 for her efforts in legal higher education.
